Walkthrough
  1. 1
Visit the Pokémart and purchase items such as Antidote for $100, Awakening for $250, Burn Heal for $250, Great Ball for $600, Paralyze Heal for $200, Revive for $1500, Super Potion for $700, Super Repel for $500, and X Speed for $350.
  2. 2
Heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center.
  3. 3
To the left of the nurse, access the spa, which has no gameplay effect.
  4. 4
Head left from the Pokémon Center and speak to the old lady in front of the spa (to the left of the man in the sand) to receive a Pokémon Egg.
  5. 5
To hatch the egg, take a certain amount of steps with it in your party. It will hatch into a Wynaut, which evolves into Wobbuffet at Level 15.
  6. 6
Go south to the gym. The house to the right of the gym sells medicines: Energypowder for $500, Energy Root for $800, Heal Powder for $450, and Revival Herb for $2800. These bitter items lower your Pokémon's happiness rating.
  7. 7
Talk to the man in the back of the medicine house to receive a Charcoal, which powers up Fire-type moves when held by a Pokémon.
  8. 8
Enter the next house and speak to the person who will teach your Pokémon Mimic, a move that copies the opponent's last used move for the rest of the battle.
  9. 9
Enter the Gym to battle Flannery.

POKÉMON GYM - Battle Flannery for the Heat Badge

The gym's Pokémon type is Fire. Effective types against Fire are Water, Rock, and Ground. Normal, Ice, Grass, and Steel types are not recommended.

The gym features a haze (a type of mist that obscures vision) that makes it difficult to see, causing trainers to appear suddenly. You must use warp panels (devices that transport you to different locations) to navigate the gym.

Gym Trainers:

  • Kindler Jeff: Slugma (Level 22), Slugma (Level 22) - Money: $704
  • Kindler Jace (Slugma, Level 23 - Money: $736) and Hiker Eli (Numel, Level 23 - Money: $920) can be battled together for a team battle, yielding $1656.
  • Kindler Cole (Numel, Level 23 - Money: $736) and Cooltrainer Gerald (Kecleon, Level 23 - Money: $1104) can be battled together for a team battle, yielding $1840.
  • Kindler Axle: Numel (Level 23) - Money: $736
  • Kindler Keegan: Slugma (Level 23) - Money: $736
  • Battle Girl Danielle: Meditite (Level 23) - Money: $552

Gym Navigation:

  1. From the start, jump into the hole to your left. Battle the trainer to the right in the mist.
  2. Step back through the hole you used to enter this area.
  3. Head north from the gym entrance and jump down another hole.
  4. Down here, head south, then west. Battle the two trainers in the mist to the north (you can fight them solo or together for a double battle).
  5. From these trainers, head left and choose either of the two holes, as they lead to the same area.
  6. To the right, battle the two trainers (you can fight them solo or together for a double battle).
  7. Head north and battle the trainer to the right of the hole.
  8. Jump into the hole to the left of the trainer you just battled.
  9. Battle the trainer to the right of the hole to the north.
  10. Jump into the hole to the north.
  11. Battle the trainer in the northeast corner of this area.
  12. From the last hole you used, use the hole to your right.
  13. Head down and jump into the hole, avoiding the ledge.
  14. Jump off the ledge to your south, then jump into the hole to be near Flannery.

Gym Leader Flannery's Pokémon:

  • Numel, Level 24 (Fire/Ground)
  • Slugma, Level 24 (Fire)
  • Camerupt, Level 26 (Fire/Ground)
  • Torkoal, Level 29 (Fire)
Tips
  • Use Water, Ground, or Rock-type Pokémon against Flannery's Fire-types.
  • Camerupt is 4x weak to Water attacks due to its Fire/Ground typing.
  • Torkoal has high defenses and can use Sunny Day to boost Fire attacks and weaken Water attacks, followed by Overheat, its most powerful move which lowers its own Special Attack. Consider Pokémon like Graveler or Golem to withstand Torkoal's attacks.
  • Avoid getting burned, as it lowers your Attack stat.
