Master skirmishes in ni no kuni 2 revenant kingdom, including unit types and special tactics. Learn how to use military might effectively.
- 1Interact with the flag and select "yes" to begin the skirmish.
- 2On the briefing screen, you can bolster, inspect, muster, and mobilize your forces. Start the skirmish when ready.
- 3You control Evan, and your two units surround him. Units attack automatically when encountering enemies. Rotate units with L1 and R1.
- 4Defeat the four enemy units ahead of you.
- 5A tutorial will explain the might gauge in the bottom right. Hold X for Quick March or Square for All-Out Assault; the gauge depletes while holding either button.
- 6Defeat the next group of enemies.
- 7A tutorial will explain unit types: sword is strong against hammer but weak to spear; hammer is strong against spear and weak to sword; spear is strong against sword and weak to hammer. A blue arrow indicates an advantage, a red arrow a disadvantage. The next four enemy units are hammer, so use your sword unit.
- 8A tutorial on special tactics will appear. When the Special Tactics Gauge is full, hold R2 and press the corresponding button to use a tactic. This uses military might (shown in the upper left). Chingis can call an airstrike, Khunbish can freeze an enemy unit.
- 9Approach the next battle, which is more challenging and features an elite unit. Use special tactics to gain an advantage.
- 10Keep an eye on unit health by the number of soldiers remaining. Hold Circle to summon more troops, which costs might.
- 11Approach the gate to make it open, then defeat the enemy units. Be swift in taking down the nearby enemy archer tower.
- 12Break through the last wooden gate, defeat the unit guarding the tent, and destroy the tent.
- 13A tutorial for Shock Tactics will appear. Pressing Triangle makes all unit types effective against all others and slows might gauge depletion. This is useful when feeling outmatched or units are in trouble.
- 14Test Shock Tactics on the large group of enemy troops that appear shortly after.
- 15Defeating them ends the skirmish.
- Keep an eye out for items on the ground, as they will replenish your Military Might.
- Should you need some extra troops, you can hold down the Circle button to summon more, but it will cost you some might.
After the skirmish, you can view your units in the menu. Activate the Trip Door (Rubbly Ruins) nearby and head north to explore the new area. Do not cross the bridge to the south yet, as it initiates scenes and the next story objective. Enemies here have boosted levels, so grinding your character levels might be beneficial, especially for Tani.
Start by going north a tiny bit, then up the small hill to the west. A chest on the ledge above the Trip Door contains a Hush-Be-Gone. Continue north, bypassing the hill, and look along the thin ledge next to the terrain to find a slightly hidden chest (Close-Range Ring). Head straight west to spot another chest behind a stone arch (500 guilders). Ascend the next hill and look for sparkles and a large enemy named a Manticore. This battle is very challenging and can be ignored and returned to later.
