Learn how to defeat the Black Knight, the first boss in Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. This guide covers his attacks, phases, and strategies for survival.
Walkthrough
- 1After a few scenes, you'll be controlling Evan. You can explore the area, but the only notable thing is a waystone.
- 2Head up the hill to find Roland. After a chat, Chapter 1 concludes.
Boss Fight - The Black Knight:
The Black Knight is your first real challenge. Don't get too greedy with your attacks, and pay close attention to his moves. He has a fast sword swing, and he can block your attacks with his shield, significantly reducing the damage you deal.
Stats / Weaknesses:
- His shield blocks attacks, reducing damage.
- His sword glows purple before a lunging, sweeping arc attack.
Phases:
- Phase 1: The Black Knight uses standard sword swings and can block. His most dangerous move is a charged attack where his sword glows purple. Bait this out, dodge it, then get in a few hits before backing off.
- Phase 2: When his health gets low, a cutscene triggers, and he becomes much larger with new attacks. He'll rear up on his hind legs, signaling a short charge. If you stay too close for too long, he might punch you. Hit-and-run tactics are key here too. He can also perform a series of punches while moving towards you.
Strategy:
- Bait out the Black Knight's charged attack (sword glows purple), dodge it, then quickly attack him a few times before retreating.
- In the second phase, use hit-and-run tactics. Dodge his charges and punches, land a few hits, and repeat.
- Remember, you're not meant to defeat him. Just keep fighting until the next cutscene plays, ending the battle.
Tips
- The Black Knight's charge attack is fairly easy to avoid if you keep your distance when he prepares it.
- His second form looks intimidating, but the strategy remains similar – avoid his big moves and chip away at his health.
- King in Exile (Awarded for finishing Chapter 1)
