  1. 1
Incapacitate enemy soldiers by knocking them out.

Drag the unconscious soldier to your truck or a cardboard box before they regain consciousness.
  3. 3
After completing or aborting the mission, captured soldiers will be in prison on the Squad Management screen.
  4. 4
From prison, you can view their skills, remove equipment, rename them, or dispose of them.
  5. 5
Soldiers will join your unit after a few in-game days. Having a soldier with the Politician career in your squad speeds up this process.
Tips
  • Rescuing a captured soldier during a mission will make them join your unit immediately.
  • Unique Characters have special conditions that must be met for them to join.
  • Certain characters like Jonathan, Para-Medic, Python, Raikov, Sigint, Sokolov, Eva, Venus, Teliko, and Gene (EU version) join immediately after capture/rescue.
  • Rescued soldiers, soldiers recruited via AP Scan, and soldiers recruited via password (like the GAKO soldier or Zero if you don't own the Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel) also join immediately.
  • Soldiers can also join of their own free will through Cyber-Survival mode.
  • Soldiers have different careers that provide various effects:
    • Athlete: Faster movement speed (Infiltration Unit).
  • Quarterback: Longer throwing distance (Infiltration Unit).
  • Artist: Magazines have no effect (Online Unit).
  • Scout: Faster stalking speed (Infiltration Unit).
