To recruit allies in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, you must first knock out enemy soldiers and drag them to a designated pickup point (truck or cardboard box) before they wake up. Captured soldiers are held in prison on the Squad Management screen, where you can manage their equipment and skills. After a few in-game days, they will join your unit, a process that is accelerated by having a soldier with the Politician career in your squad.

Special conditions for recruitment:

• Rescued captured soldiers join your unit immediately.
• Unique Characters can be recruited, but require specific conditions to be met.
• Certain characters like Jonathan, Para-Medic, Python, Raikov, Sigint, Sokolov, Eva, Venus, Teliko, and Gene (EU version) join immediately after capture/rescue.
• Soldiers rescued during missions, obtained via AP Scan, or through passwords (like the GAKO soldier and Zero) also join immediately.
• Soldiers may join voluntarily through Cyber-Survival mode.

Soldier Careers and their Effects:

Cyber-Survival Mode:

Utilize your allies in Cyber-Survival mode via WLAN points. This mode has different rules than the main game. Assign equipment to your unit and send them online. Monitor their condition after 12 hours. Review battle reports to identify weaknesses and improve your strategy. You can capture enemy soldiers, and some may even join you voluntarily, potentially offering gifts. However, be cautious, as losing can result in your soldiers being captured by the enemy. Avoid sending your favorite soldiers into this mode unless you are prepared for the risks.
