Characters [CH1]

Learn how to recruit all secret characters in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, including methods for Null, Gene, Cunningham, Elisa, Ursula, Teliko, Venus, Eva, and Ocelot.

This guide details how to recruit common and secret characters in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Some characters can be obtained through gameplay objectives, while others can be unlocked via passwords.

Passwords

Using passwords to recruit characters results in lower stats compared to obtaining them through gameplay. To input a password, navigate to the recruit icon on the world map (among icons like manage, status, system) and select the password option.

In-Game Recruitment

Note: To recruit all characters listed below, you must not recruit the businessman (in the suit) during the Airport mission. Interrogate him instead. He can be recruited in a later game.

Null

Stamina kill or HP kill Null in both encounters and beat the game. After saving at the end of the credits, load the save file, return to the world map, save again, and then reload from the main menu. A "New Soldier Found" notification will appear.

Gene

Recruit 200 soldiers (this includes soldiers you've discharged after they joined). Stamina kill Gene, then start a new game on the same file. Reload the save, and a "New Soldier Found" notification will appear. This must be done in a single playthrough.

Cunningham

Stamina kill Cunningham and beat the game before January 1, 1971. . .

Elisa

Achieve a Medic level of 80 and beat the game. . .

Ursula

Achieve a Medic level of 80 or higher and beat the game. . . Note: You cannot recruit both Elisa and Ursula.

Teliko

Have spies in the Guest House and wait until December 16th, 1971. You will receive a report about a woman there. Go to the location, knock her out, and drag her to the truck.

Venus

Have spies in the Power Substation and wait until December 8th, 1971. You will receive a report about a suspicious character. Go to the location, knock her out, and drag her to the back of the truck.

Eva
