Part 11

Navigate the Mountain Trail, defeat the Assault Rider and Rapid Thruster, and face Shan-Yu in Part 11 of our Kingdom Hearts II walkthrough. Find all collectibles!

Part 11 features the Assault Rider and can be lengthy. Stay active and focused, especially during the Search mission where enemies appear one at a time. The end of this section has three Nightwalkers, which can significantly impact your Morale Gauge. Completing all three missions rewards you with an [AP BOOST].

Through the Mountain Trail

Before heading north to the Checkpoint, jump atop the tower at the southeast to find [HEART #10]. At the Checkpoint, locate two [CHESTS] in the corners containing a [MYTHRIL SHARD] (5/13) and a [HI-POTION] (4/13). Proceed through the Mountain Trail, clearing Heartless. Use the Rockshatter command, hitting the wall twice to break it down. You can return for treasures later when the Morale Gauge isn't a concern. At the trail's end, defeat the two Assault Riders with magic to reach the Village. You'll receive the [VILLAGE AREA MAP] upon regaining control.

From the Mountain Trail's beginning (Checkpoint side), go up the trail to a [CHEST] with a [LIGHTNING SHARD] (6/13). Continue up the steps to the right for another [CHEST] with a [MYTHRIL SHARD] (9/13). In the northwest, find two [CHESTS] containing a [RECOVERY RECIPE] (7/13) and an [ETHER] (8/13). A puzzle piece is present but inaccessible for now. Back in the Village, jump onto the house on the west side to claim [HEART #11]. Visit the Moogle to deposit Synthesis items and your new recipe.

After Shan-Yu!

Enter the cave and open the first two [CHESTS] for a [DARK SHARD] (11/13) and an [AP BOOST] (10/13). Proceed to the dead end to trigger a scene and a battle. Initially, you'll face an Assault Rider and several Shadows. Prioritize the Assault Rider, then deal with the Shadows. Two more Assault Riders will appear; use magic to quickly defeat one.

Rapid Thruster

• HP: 17
• Experience: 4
• Drop: Lightning Shard (4%)

The Rapid Thruster attacks by flying around and then dive-bombing Sora. These attacks are easily guarded or parried. Rapid Thrusters are good for farming Lightning Shards and experience. Use the Speed Trap and Aero Blade Reaction Commands to defeat them quickly. Later, in the Pride Lands' Peak, you can group them with Magnega and defeat many at once. Using the Gull Wing Keyblade and the Experience Boost ability, then dropping to critical health, can significantly increase experience gain. This can also be done in the Land of Dragons, but the Pride Lands are more effective.
