Near the end of the creek, you'll encounter an archer and a swordsman. It's best to deal with them separately by either using a ranged weapon on the archer or luring the swordsman away. At the stream's end, a corpse can be looted, but beware of a seemingly dead axeman nearby. Looting this body yields a Soul of a Lost Undead.

Up the ridge, a cave with a ladder leads to a glade. This large clearing is patrolled by three undead, with a fourth feigning death near an exit. An archer on the ledge above can target you almost anywhere in this area. The recommended strategy is to lure the enemies down the ladder and defeat them one by one in the cave. For now, leave the White Knight and collect a Lifegem and Human Effigy from nearby corpses. Climb the ladder and proceed up the steps. After defeating the enemies there, turn right at the top and drop to the catwalk. Follow the path and carefully navigate a narrow section near the edge. You'll find a body containing a Soul of a Nameless Soldier. Continue along the path to confront the archer on the ledge. Eliminate him, then sprint jump across the gap to loot the corpse at the ledge's end, which contains a Shortsword and a Soul of a Lost Undead. Return to the White Knight and retrieve the Broken Straight Sword from the corpse beside him.

OPTIONAL: Kill the White Knight

The White Knight guards the Heide Sword, a valuable weapon at this stage of the game. If you choose to fight him, be cautious. His attacks are slow but have a wide range. Evade when he attacks, paying special attention to his unpredictable charging attack. You can retreat towards the ladder to reset his position and re-engage, or if you're a melee character, you can block his advances with your shield while circling him, managing your stamina carefully. Defeating the White Knight rewards you with a significant amount of souls and the Heide Sword.
