Alright, let's talk about Grave Warden Agdayne. He's a bit of an odd one, and you need to be careful how you approach him, or he might get a little… uncooperative.

Warning: Seriously, don't go near him while you're holding a Torch or if you have the Cast Light miracle active. If you happen to have a Hollow friend running around with a torch, make sure they don't get too close to Agdayne either, or he'll turn hostile towards you. It’s best to keep your torch put away when you’re around him.

You'll find Agdayne chilling in the antechamber within the Undead Crypt. It's a pretty distinctive area, so keep an eye out for it as you explore.

Now, here's a cool thing: if you speak to him before things get spicy, you can actually summon him as a white phantom. This comes in handy right before the boss fight with Velstadt. When you're facing the fog wall for Velstadt's arena, look to your left. Between the last two pillars, you should spot his summon sign. If you bring him along, he'll wield that fearsome Crypt Blacksword to help you out.
