Navigate the dangers of Belfry Luna in Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. Learn strategies for defeating the Bell Keepers and the Belfry Gargoyles boss.

After entering Belfry Luna, you'll encounter a non-hostile dwarf who offers you the chance to join the Bell Keeper covenant, rewarding you with the Bell Keeper's Seal ring. Proceed upstairs, being mindful of dangerous floor gaps, and defeat the Dark Spirit Bell Keeper at the top. These enemies are tough, with high defense and strong attacks.

Once the enemies are cleared, collect the Skeptic's Spice from a corner. Then, jump down through the central floor gap; some fall damage is unavoidable. In the room below, loot a Blue Tearstone Ring from a coffer by the wall. In a corner alcove, find another Skeptic's Spice. Head upstairs to the third floor.

On the third floor, two more Dark Spirit Bell Keepers await, along with the hazard of explosive barrels. Stay mobile to split them up and avoid hitting the barrels. Do not stray too far, as they will throw firebombs if you do.

Before entering the mist, climb the ladder. At the top, you must defeat three Dark Spirit Bell Keepers, including a leader in red. If possible, lure them to fall into the room below. Otherwise, fight them on their floor, sticking to the center and engaging them one at a time.

After defeating all the keepers, loot another Skeptic's Spice. A chest in a corner contains two Radiant Lifegems and Twilight Herbs. Pull the nearby lever to raise the gate blocking the mist below.

BOSS: BELFRY GARGOYLES

The Belfry Gargoyle fight intensifies as more gargoyles join the battle, up to a total of six. They share a single health bar, so defeating them quickly is crucial before the incoming damage becomes overwhelming.

The gargoyles attack in four ways: fire breath (cone or ground), swooping attacks, close-range sweeps, and overhead melee swipes. Watch for head pivots to anticipate fire breath. For swooping attacks, be ready to attack upon landing or block/dodge incoming attacks. Dodge left or right for overhead swipes. If they pause, be wary of lightning storms.

Tips:

  • The boss is weak to lightning and magic attacks. Miracles and sorceries deal heavy damage.
  • Focus damage on one gargoyle at a time to reduce the number of active threats.
  • Two-hand your weapon for increased damage and dodge away from flanking attempts. Watch out for tail sweeps!
  • A shield with high fire defense is recommended.
