Explore the CAR556 and ACWR in Battlefield Hardline's Part 11 guide. Learn about their stats, unlock methods, and performance in combat.
This section details two weapons available in Battlefield Hardline: the CAR556 and the ACWR. It also touches upon the history and variants of the Colt Commando and M4 carbine platforms.
Colt Commando & M4 Carbine History:
The Colt Commando, a compact M16 variant with a short barrel (10" or 11.5"), was adopted by US special forces during the Vietnam War. Subsequent variants like the M4 carbine feature a 14.5" barrel. Colt continues to produce various compact M16 models for different applications, including the M4 Commando and CQB variants. Compact M16 9mm submachinegun models also exist, identifiable by their narrow magazines.
The RO933 .300 BLK suppressed carbine and the RO933 M1 semi-auto sniper were added to Hardline via DLC and updates, respectively. A community mission in January 2016 offered a gold Battlepack for achieving 93 kills with the RO933.
CAR556
- Stats: Ammo: 5.56x45mm, Capacity: 40+1, Fire-rate: 700 RPM, Reload: 2.40 secs
- Unlocks: Available by default for both factions. Comes in the Suppression Battlepack with snakeskin camo.
- Summary: The CAR556 features a large 40-round magazine, allowing for extended suppressive fire without using an accessory slot. However, it has a slow reload time. It shares a slow rate of fire and a four-hit kill at short range (out to 8 meters) with the SG553. It suffers from high vertical recoil and a large spread increase per shot (SIPS). The weapon is modeled without a stock, and none can be added.
- Patched: The CAR556's vertical recoil and SIPS were nerfed in a June 16 patch. It was unlocked for free for all players in the Robbery update on September 16, 2015.
- Trivia: Hardline's CAR556 is based on the Ace 21, familiar to BF4 players. The Ace series is a collaboration between Indumil and Israel Weapon Industries, updating the IMI Galil design.
ACWR
- Stats: Ammo: 5.56x45mm, Capacity: 30+1, Fire-rate: 800 RPM, Reload: 2.00 secs
- Unlocks: Available by default for both factions. Comes in the Versatility Battlepack with white zebra camo.
- Summary: The ACWR performs well at short range due to its high fire-rate, average damage, fast reload, and good aimed accuracy while moving. At longer ranges, it struggles with poor stationary aimed accuracy and heavy recoil. The default muzzle brake helps tame recoil but slows spread recovery. A heavy barrel is recommended for ADS play, offering reduced spread and recoil bonuses.
- Patched: In February 2015, damage values were nerfed (max from 28 to 24, min from 18.5 to 15).
