Items in Tunic can be used or equipped to aid the player in various ways. They are broadly categorized into Gear, Equipment, Single Use items, and Cards, each offering distinct advantages.

• Gear: These items provide abilities that are always available once acquired. This includes Potions for healing, the Shield for deflecting attacks, the Lantern for illuminating dark areas, and Hero's Laurels for a short teleportation instead of a dodge roll.
• Equipment: These items must be assigned to an action button to be used. Examples include the Stick and Sword for melee combat, the Magic Dagger and Wand for ranged attacks, the Magic Orb for grappling, the Gun for area damage, and the Hourglass for slowing time.
• Single Use: These items are consumed upon use and can be found in Chests or purchased in Shops. This category includes Blast Bombs, Fire Bombs, Frost Bombs, Effigies for coins, Red and Blue Fruits for HP and MP restoration, Golden Coins for wishes, Hot Peppers and Ivy for stat boosts, and Lures to distract enemies.
• Cards: Cards offer passive special effects that alter gameplay mechanics. They must be equipped in a card slot to take effect. Examples include the Anklet for increased movement speed, Aura's Gem for a wider parry window, Bracer for reduced shield stamina cost, Cyan Peril Ring for defense when low on health, Dagger Strap for faster Magic Dagger casts, Flame Sword for burning enemies at the cost of HP, Inverted Ash to make potions restore MP, and Louder Echo to improve the stun effect of death echoes.
