Part 20 walkthrough for Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, covering the Osprey Dagger, Superior Chain Mail, and Kirlsa Caverns.
Walkthrough
- 1Check the details with the Menu button. You can find Ripe Berries, Blackberries, and Blueberries at Private Home, and Perfect Berries at Abandoned Temple. The Tavern "Dragon's Breath" sells Blueberries for 2000 Fol.
- 2At the High-Quality Armorer "Tiamat", you can purchase the Osprey Dagger for 15,100 Fol. This shop also sells Blueberries and Blackberries.
- 3You can afford the Osprey Dagger if you sell the 1/144 Scale Bunny and other items. This weapon is intended to be bought late in Disc 1.
- 4If you are playing the 4D version, you will also need the Superior Chain Mail. You can afford this by completing a couple more maps and getting money from the Mountains of Barr. This will allow you to get past the Earth Smasher even if you haven't fought any normal battles on Elicoor II yet.
- 5The Armorer "Left-Handed Lizard" sells the Superior Chain Mail for 26,800 Fol. You can get one for Nel later when you can afford it, though it is not necessary until late Disc 1.
- 6In the Traum Mountains, you can find a Jewel of Alertness, Ripe Berries, Blackberries, 400 Fol, and the 1/144 Scale Bunny (nc). Enemies in this area include Killer Wasps, Bogle Soldiers b, Bogle Leaders b, Ochre Jellies, and Dragon Brigade Soldiers.
- 7A cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) ([Scene036]) plays when you cross the bridge. Avoid Dragon Brigade Soldiers if you need to return to Airyglyph, as they can kill you easily.
- 8In the Royal City of Airyglyph, you will find PA-17 with various stat bonuses and penalties.
- 9Another cutscene ([Scene037]) plays when you approach the entrance to Kirlsa, followed by [Scene038] when you enter the Mining Town of Kirlsa.
- 10In Kirlsa, you can find Aquaberries, Blueberries, Perfect Berries, Blackberries, 520 Fol, and Ripe Berries. New gear is available but can be skipped.
- 11At Private Home in Kirlsa, you can spend 1400 Fol. The Tavern "The Iron Stomach" sells Blueberries.
- 12To find Compounding Elixirs in Kirlsa, talk to the man in the southwest corner of town. This will make Nel appear at the small graveyard to the north.
- 13A cutscene ([Scene039]) plays when you approach Nel.
- 14Head north into the Kirlsa Caverns.
- 15In Kirlsa Caverns, you can find Scale Armor, Blackberries, Charm of Insight, 5000 Fol, Fresh Sage, and the Earth Pixie. Enemies include Tarantulas, Huge Spiders, Skeleton Knights, Giant Bats, Hornets, Dire Tarantulas, Cave Spiders, and Water Reapers b.
- 16Once Nel reaches Lv10, you can use Kagebarai (Shadow Wave). If playing the PAL-version, use skip-canceling by setting Shisentou (Shockwave) to SR Confirm and Kagebarai to SR Cancel. To perform this, hit Confirm, then immediately hold down both Confirm and Cancel. Release Confirm once the normal attack begins.
- 17Battlefields in caves and the Mountains of Barr feature random, rolling boulders that deal proportional damage based on max HP, modified by size and momentum. Anyone hit will flinch.
- 18A cutscene ([Scene040]) plays when you proceed west past the save point.
- 19You will face the boss, the Earth Smasher, with 3600 HP, 163 MP, 40 xp, and 1495 Fol. It drops a Decrepit Tome (Artifact) and has no Battle Trophies (BTs).
- 20After the battle, pull the lever and make your way to the third area with the ovens. You will need to ride a hauler beast to proceed.
- 21The Aggressive hauler can break down three rock walls on the east side. It can turn even when above the speed limit but cannot stop or turn left at the first junction.
- 22The Whimsical hauler turns randomly.
- 23When you make a stop, the camera angle is set, so try not to leave immediately.
- 24Ensure you get a kill for each enemy. The Giant Bat only appears alongside Huge Spiders in the area west of the boss arena. Four enemies can only be fought in areas accessed with [incomplete sentence].
- 25A cutscene ([Scene041]) plays after the boss battle.
Tips
- If you sell the 1/144 Scale Bunny and other items, you should be able to afford the Osprey Dagger.
- It is not necessary to buy the Osprey Dagger or Superior Chain Mail until late Disc 1, but it is your choice.
- You can still defeat enemies easily with a chain or two once you have decent skills like Kagebarai and Hammer of Might at Lv10.
- The hauler beasts can be used to break down rock walls blocking your path.
