Alright, you've made it to the Pyrite Colosseum! This is your first real test in the game, and it's important to get off to a good start. Don't worry, Round 1 is pretty straightforward, but it's a good place to learn the ropes of Colosseum battles.

Your Opponent

In Round 1, you'll face a trainer with a couple of Pokémon. The exact team can vary slightly, but they're generally not too tough. The key here is to use your strongest Pokémon that have a type advantage, if possible.

Strategy

Think about the Pokémon you've caught and trained so far. Do any of them have moves that are super effective against the opponent's Pokémon? For example, if they have a Grass-type, a Fire- or Flying-type move will do extra damage. If they have a Water-type, bring out something that uses Electric- or Grass-type moves.

Remember that in the Colosseum, you'll be in double battles. This means you can use two Pokémon at once. Try to pick a pair that covers each other's weaknesses or can dish out a lot of damage together. Don't be afraid to switch out Pokémon if one is getting low on health or is at a type disadvantage.
