Follow this guide to find Jovi and get the Snag Machine in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. Learn about Kaminko's House and the first trainer battle.

Alright, so the very first thing you'll do in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness is a little battle simulation. You'll be using a Salamence against a Level 50 Metagross. Since Metagross is Steel/Psychic, a Ground-type move like Earthquake is your best bet. Don't worry too much about the outcome, though – it doesn't actually affect the game later on. It's more about getting you used to battling!

After that, you'll find yourself back at the Pokémon HQ Lab. You've got a Level 10 Eevee, which only knows basic moves like Tackle and Bite right now. Head up to Professor Krane's office. Your mom, Lily, will tell you that your sister Jovi is missing and ask you to find her. Before you go searching, Professor Krane wants you to grab a P*DA he left in your room.

Your room is in the northeast corner on the first floor. Grab the P*DA from your desk – it's like your in-game menu and will get upgrades later, like a Shadow Monitor. You'll get an email from Professor Krane telling you that Adon was playing hide-and-seek with Jovi and that you should talk to him.

Adon is upstairs, next to the lounge. He'll tell you Jovi went to Dr. Kaminko's House. He'll mark it on your map so you can take your scooter there. Before you leave the lab, make sure to save your game! It's always a good idea to save whenever you enter a new area.

Before heading out, check the TV in the lounge to catch the ONBS news about the missing S.S. Libra. Then, head outside the lab. There's a scientist named Suprintrainer Aferd who will battle you with a Level 5 Sentret. After that, grab the two Antidotes from the chest at the end of the sidewalk to the left, and then it's time to head to Kaminko's House!

Kaminko's House is this spooky old place owned by an inventor and his assistant, Chobin. As you approach the door, Chobin will mistake you for a burglar and attack!
