Hey there! So, you're looking to snag some of those super rare Pokémon in Sun and Moon, huh? These are often called 'Special Distributions' and they're a fantastic way to add some unique monsters to your team. Let's break down how you can get your hands on them!

How to Get Special Pokémon

Most of these special Pokémon arrive through the Mystery Gift menu. You can access this right from the title screen before you even load your save file. Once you're there, you'll see a few options:

• Get via Local Wireless: This is for when you're at a big event, like a Pokémon World Championship, and there's a distribution happening right there. It's not super common for everyday play.
• Get via Internet: This is your go-to for most online giveaways. Keep an eye on the official Pokémon website to see when these are happening!
• Get via Infrared: Honestly, you'll probably never use this one unless a staff member at a special event tells you to. It's super rare.
• Get with Code/Password: If you've got a special code or password from a promotion, this is how you'll enter it. You'll need an internet connection for this to work.

There are a couple of other cool ways to get Pokémon too:

• Directly from Another Game: If you have another Pokémon game on the same 3DS system, you might be able to transfer Pokémon over.
• QR Code: Sometimes, you'll find special QR codes out there. Scan them using the QR Scanner in your game's menu, and it might lead you to a Pokémon!

Special Pokémon Spotlight:

Ash-Greninja

If you played the Pokémon Sun and Moon Special Demo (it's free on the eShop!), you can actually send Ash-Greninja over to your full game. Just talk to Professor Kukui in a Pokémon Center in the demo, and you can send it to your main game. Make sure both the demo and the full game are on the same 3DS! Ash-Greninja is awesome because it has the 'Battle Bond' ability, which makes it even stronger after it wins a battle.

Munchlax (with Snorium Z)

Back when the game first launched, Nintendo gave away a special Munchlax that was holding the unique item Snorium Z. If you evolve this Munchlax into Snorlax, or just use any Snorlax holding Snorium Z, it can use the super cool Z-Move called 'Pulverizing Pancake'! This was a limited-time offer, ending January 11th, 2017, so it's no longer available through that specific giveaway.

Magearna

This is the first Mythical Pokémon for Sun and Moon! To get Magearna, you'll need to scan a special QR code using the in-game QR Scanner. After you've finished the main story, you can find Magearna waiting for you at the antique shop in the Hau'oli City shopping mall. Plus, it comes holding a Bottle Cap, which is super handy for Hyper Training your Pokémon!
