Your adventures will be filled with fascinating and colorful people with quirky island traditions and of course Pokémon. Delight in the mysteries of the brand new Alola region as your travels take you the length and breadth of the region and the secrets of the legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala are finally unveiled.

This guide will cover everything you need to know to get started and become the Champion, including:

  • All dungeons and Rite of the Island challenges covered.
  • Detailed breeding and capture guide, including locations for every Pokémon as well as information on the new Alolan forms.
  • Gameplay strategies to maximise your team potential as well as details on Hyper Training.
  • Minigames and secrets uncovered.
  • An explanation of the brand new Rotom Pokédex and loads more!

Once you get into Festival Plaza, you'll notice the touch screen interface changes dramatically. The two biggest buttons are Battle and Trade.

Battle lets you battle with other players, either locally or online. You can challenge friends or castle visitors, or hook up with someone random online. There are several rulesets you can choose from, and new battle rules are constantly being released for download, so you can practice!

Trade lets you trade Pokémon with friends or guests. Wonder Trade lets you trade with a random stranger, and the GTS lets you deposit a Pokémon and request another in exchange. You can Link Trade to trade with a specific person, but if they're in the same room, you're better off using the Quick Link option in the default menu.

As you rank up your castle, you'll unlock Facilities you can build. You can never expand the max number of Facilities, so choose wisely! Facilities can be used once per day and are well worth your while. They use their own special currency, Festival Coins (FC). You can use them for things like instantly giving EVs to your Pokémon, hatching Eggs faster, or winning random items from lottery-like facilities.

It’s called “Festival Plaza” after all, so have fun meeting people! Random visitors from online will arrive, and you can chat with them. As you level up your castle, you can do other fun things, like ordering their clothes if you don’t own them already (certain outfit colors are exclusive between game versions). You can earn Festival Coins by answering their questions, sending them to a facility you think they’ll like, and by joining online Missions to bolster the score and earn even more Festival Coins!
