Battling and Trading: Communications 2

Learn how to battle and trade with players locally and online in Pokémon Sun and Moon using Quick Link and Festival Plaza. Discover Battle Spot, GTS, and Wonder Trade.

This guide covers how to battle and trade with other players in Pokémon Sun and Moon, both locally and online. It details the use of Quick Link for immediate connections and the Festival Plaza for more options.

Playing Locally:

1. From the field, press the X button to access the menu and select Quick Link.
2. Both players must tap the bottom screen or hold the A button to wirelessly connect.
3. Once connected, one player can choose between Link Battle (Single or Double) or Link Trade.
4. Alternatively, access the Festival Plaza from the menu.
5. Inside the Festival Plaza, tap “Battle” or “Trade” on the bottom screen, then select “Link Battle” or “Link Trade”.
6. For Link Battles, choose between Single Battle, Double Battle, Multi Battle, or Battle Royal.
7. The Guest List will display nearby players. Select a player whose name is solid black.
8. A request will be sent, lasting 30 seconds by default.

Playing Online:

1. Access the Festival Plaza from the menu.
2. Tap the bottom-right icon on the bottom screen to connect to the Internet (requires saving your game).
3. Similar to local play, tap “Battle” or “Trade” and select “Link Battle” or “Link Trade”.
4. Online players' names will be solid black, while others are greyed out. Select a player to send a request.
5. For more advanced online options:
   • Visit the Battle Spot: Compete globally in free battles, rating battles, or online competitions. A Pokémon Global Link account may be required.
   • GTS (Global Trade Station): Upload or search for Pokémon to trade with players worldwide.
   • Wonder Trade: Initiate an instant trade with a random player globally.
