Guide your Pokémon Platinum team to victory against Commander Mars in the Valley Windworks. Learn her Pokémon's moves and how to counter them.

Alright, you've got the key to the Valley Windworks! Before we face Commander Mars, we'll have to take on two Team Galactic Grunts. It's also a good idea to heal up your Pokémon at a Pokémon Center nearby. Keep an eye out in the backroom, because this is where you'll meet Professor Charon of Team Galactic for the first time. Head to the backroom to start the battle!

Boss Fight: Commander Mars

Pokémon:

  • Zubat Lv. 15 (Poison/Flying)
  • Purugly Lv. 17 (Normal)

Info: Mars's Zubat knows Toxic, which gets stronger over time while your Pokémon is poisoned. If you get poisoned, try to heal it as soon as you defeat Zubat. Purugly is a bit of a tank and likes to use Fake Out on its first turn, which can flinch your Pokémon. It also has Faint Attack and Scratch, so be careful. Consider using a Pokémon with high defense or strong Fighting-type moves. Bringing along some Antidotes is also a good idea since Toxic's damage increases the longer the battle drags on.

Once you defeat Mars, Charon will say his piece, and then they'll clear out of the Windworks. Looker will show up for a bit, then run off. You'll also notice Drifloon starts appearing outside on Fridays. There's one right outside the Windworks that you can talk to – they only appear once a week and don't show up in the grass. After that, continue back to Route 205.

You'll encounter a few trainers here, but your main goal is to head north towards Eterna Forest. If you need to rest up before heading into the forest, there's a house near its entrance.
