Learn how to transfer your favorite Pokémon from Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen to Pokémon Platinum via the Pal Park and its unique catching mechanics.

After transferring Pokémon from Game Boy Advance titles (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen) to your Pokémon Platinum game, you can access the Pal Park. This facility allows you to enter a special catching game to obtain these transferred Pokémon.

Note: You can Fly to the Pal Park, but only after obtaining the National Pokédex and visiting it at least once.

The Pal Park features 5 distinct locations for the catching game:

  • Grass area: Found immediately upon entering.
  • Forest: An area of grass surrounded by trees.
  • Pond: A small pond in the northeastern section of the map.
  • Mountain: A patch of grass on a hill in the northeastern section.
  • Ocean: A landmass in the lower-right corner of the map.

You will be given special Poké Balls that function like Master Balls, guaranteeing a catch. However, certain details will be preserved on the Pokémon's status screen, including:

  • Region caught in (Hoenn, Kanto, etc.)
  • Original Trainer name and ID
  • Poké Ball type used
  • Nature
  • Level
  • Current EXP
  • All moves
  • Ability
  • Ribbons
  • Shiny status
  • Pokerus status
  • EV Points
  • IV Points
  • Held item during transfer
  • All stats

Pokémon transferred this way receive a 1.5x EXP bonus as they are not considered your original Pokémon. The drawback is that they will not evolve if their evolution requires trading or other special conditions.

Each Pokémon has a specific location, encounter rate (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare), and a Score Rank (E, D, C, B, A, S) which contributes points. The following chart details some of these Pokémon:
