After beating the Elite Four in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, learn how to track down and catch the elusive Legendary Pokémon Mesprit using helpful items and strategies.

Alright, you've conquered the Elite Four – nice job! Now for a bit of a post-game challenge: catching Mesprit. It's way easier now that you've got access to more Pokémon and better items. You might still have your Master Ball, and you'll have to decide if it's worth using on Mesprit or saving for Cresselia, but honestly, they're pretty similar in difficulty to catch.

Before you start hunting, make sure you've got these essentials:

• Timer Balls, Dark Balls (if it's nighttime), Quick Balls, and Ultra Balls are your best bet.
• A Wobbuffet around level 45-50 is super helpful.
• Don't forget a Max Repel to keep weaker Pokémon away.

Finding Mesprit is still a bit of a luck game, just like before. The best strategy is to hop back and forth between adjacent routes, like Route 206 and Route 207. Keep an eye on your Pokétch Map screen to see when Mesprit is nearby. Once he's close, pop a Max Repel and head into the tall grass. With a little luck, you'll encounter him pretty quickly!

Here's the cool part: unlike before, Mesprit won't just run away if you have a Wobbuffet in play (as long as it's the one battling). This means you can treat it like a regular battle and throw as many Poké Balls as you need. If you don't want to weaken Mesprit with Wobbuffet first, you can just battle normally, let it run, and then switch to Wobbuffet when its HP is low. Once it's weakened, start chucking Ultra Balls, Dark Balls if it's dark, and Timer Balls after about 30 turns.
