How to Build Your First Base in Nightingale

To begin building your first base in Nightingale, you'll need to complete the tutorial and select your starting biome. Locate the Essence Trader in your Abeyance realm and access the 'Crude Building' menu. Here, you can spend Essence Dust to purchase the 'crude basics' recipe, which unlocks the ability to craft foundational elements like foundations, doors, frames, windows, walls, and a flat roof.

Upon entering your starting biome, you should receive a quest to build a Cairn Estate. This item, found in your base building menu, serves as your core base and sets your spawn point. It acts as your Respite fast travel button, accessible from anywhere in any realm. Build around this central point to establish your first base.

When interacting with the Abeyance Essence Trader, navigate to the 'Buildings: Crude' menu and buy the basic crude construction recipe. This allows you to craft the essentials. Essence Traders are commonly found throughout the map.

With the recipes unlocked, you'll use a combination of wood and stone to construct your initial bases. Crafting a workbench will also allow you to create a hammer. Hammers are crucial for repairing your base's structural integrity, especially if you face attacks from wild creatures or environmental damage like hail.

You can also craft Crude Tents, which provide protection from rain and hail, and offer indoor bonuses for resting and using production tables. Build these in safe areas, as creatures may wander into them otherwise.

As you progress, you'll gain access to more advanced building pieces, enabling multi-story structures, specialized components, alternative walls, and roof designs. You can also acquire different Tilesets, offering unique aesthetics like Sandstone, Tudor, East Asian Pagoda, and South Asian Bhutan styles. Unlocking these requires progressing through major realm cards, a process that spans from your first hour to your 40th hour of gameplay.
