How to Play Co-op with Friends in Nightingale

Alright, so you wanna jump into Nightingale with your buddies, huh? It's pretty straightforward once you know the drill. The game handles the server stuff for you, which is nice because you don't have to worry about your own PC struggling. Just remember, sometimes the game servers might be down for maintenance, so you might have to wait a bit if you're itching to play.

First things first, you gotta get through the game's tutorial. It's not super long, just involves visiting a few different biomes like the Forest, Desert, and Swamp. You'll be doing basic survival stuff, like building a tent, crafting tools like an axe and a torch, and figuring out how to make food and healing salves. Once you've done all that, you can pick your starting biome and head through a portal into your own procedurally generated world.

Once the tutorial is out of the way, you can open up the main menu and head to the “Party & Social” section. You'll see your name on the right, with a bunch of empty slots below for your friends to join. On the left, you can search for your friends and send them invites. You can also set your party to 'Public' if you want to find other players, but if you'd rather not have strangers joining, you can set your 'Party Invites' to 'Private' in the main gameplay settings.

Now, when you invite a friend, they've only joined your party at this stage. You'll see them fill one of those empty slots. To get them into your actual game world, you need to select “Invite to Realm” from the party tab. Your friend will get a pop-up message asking if they want to join, but make sure they close out of any menus they have open first, otherwise they might not see it!

Think of each realm like its own server. Once your friend accepts the invite and joins your realm, you should be able to see them on your map. They'll stick around in your party even if you restart the game. But here's the key for playing together long-term: you need to give your friends an “Estate Address Card.” You can craft this card using the recipe you get from the first Essence trader you meet. This card lets your friends join the same realm you're in, even when you're not logged in!
