How to Use Augmentations

Learn how to craft and use Augmentations in Nightingale. Discover how they unlock new recipes for Tools, Tailor, and Enchant stations, and add station traits.

Before you can craft Augmentations in Nightingale, you must progress the main quest beyond the tutorial realm and choose your starting biome. Augmentations can be found or purchased from an Essence Trader; purchasing is generally easier. Once acquired, Augmentations appear in the build menu under the 'Augmentations' section. Each Augmentation has its own recipe and material requirements. After gathering the necessary materials, select the Augmentation to craft it and then place it anywhere in your base.

Access the build menu and select an Augment to view the recipes it unlocks for each crafting station. For example, the Basic Sawhorse Augmentation adds new recipes to the Tools, Tailor, and Enchant stations. Under Tools, it unlocks five types of Hammers: Rugged, Refined, Ornate, Mystic, and Dauntless. For the Tailor station (Sewing Bench), it unlocks 16 recipes, and for the Enchant station, it unlocks seven recipes, totaling 28 new recipes. To craft these new items, you must first unlock their corresponding recipe cards. Recipes with a padlock icon are unknown, while those without are known.

When placing an Augmentation, observe the green lines that appear, connecting the Augmentation to nearby stations. If the stations are too far, they won't be affected. Ensure the Augmentation is linked to all intended stations before finalizing its placement.

Augmentations can also grant crafting stations 'augments' or 'station traits'. For instance, the Spit Roast Augmentation provides five recipes for Cooking. When placed, check your campfire's Station Traits tab to see available augments. The 'Cook' augment from the Spit Roast unlocks recipes like Tack and Cured Meat. If you haven't unlocked the recipe card for these items, they won't appear until you do. The 'Show Unknown' checkbox reveals recipes you haven't unlocked yet, marked with a padlock.
