Substory 39

Start the Substory: During Chapter 3, make your way back to Yashikimachi in Fushimi. Look for the Harima Bathhouse, located just west of the Fukufuku Pub. Head inside for a soak to kick off this substory.

Chase the Thief: After your bath, you'll find out an opportunistic thief has made off with your clothes! Don't worry, Ryoma won't let this slide. Chase after the thief. Your success here really depends on how much you've upgraded your sprinting stamina at shrines. With a few upgrades, you should be able to keep up and potentially even overtake him in Fushimi Ichibangai.

Catch the Thief: When you get close enough to the thief, press the prompt button ( / ) to catch him. This will trigger a scene where Ryoma finds himself in trouble with an overly diligent patrol. They'll start pursuing you due to your state of undress.

Escape the Patrol: Now it's your turn to run! The goal is to put distance between yourself and the patrol. Use the environment to your advantage by rounding corners and breaking their line of sight. Once you've managed to evade them, look for scenery elements to hide behind. Press the prompt button ( / ) when you see it to take cover. This will stop them from actively chasing you, but they'll still be patrolling the area, so be careful not to be spotted again. It's a good idea to head towards the western parts of Fushimi, as this will put you closer to your next objective.

Return to the Bathhouse: Once you've successfully shaken the patrol, make your way back to the Harima Bathhouse.

Substory Complete: Upon returning to the bathhouse, you'll trigger another scene. The patrol will catch up, apologize, and reward you with a Crystal and 450 Virtue for completing the substory.
