Alright, let's get this substory done! Substory 36, 'The Injured Dog,' is a pretty straightforward one that you can pick up once you've got your second home base, 'Another Life,' unlocked in Chapter 4. It's a nice little break from the main story, and you'll even get some Virtue out of it.

Where to Start:

First things first, you need to get to Mukurogai. If you haven't been there before, you'll need to find the Boatman. He's chilling south of the Komaki Dojo, right in the southeastern part of Fushimi. Hop on with him, and he'll ferry you over to Mukurogai. Once you're in Mukurogai, head towards the northern end, specifically the central part. You'll see an injured dog there. Just interact with it to kick off the substory.

How to Complete:

So, you've found the poor pup. Ryoma, being the good guy he is, decides to help. All you need to do here is give the dog some medicine. Seriously, any medicine from your inventory will do the trick. If you don't have any on hand, no worries! You can easily grab some Ointments from pretty much any shop around. Just hand it over, and you'll have completed the main part of the substory.

Maxing the Dog's Bond:

After you've finished the substory, you can actually build a bond with the dog. To do this, you'll need to leave the area and come back. The easiest way is to pop into any building that takes you to a separate map screen, like the Tachibanagumi (where you find Wanted Men) or the Arena in Mukurogai. Once you return, you can give the dog more medicine. Again, Ointments are your best bet – cheap and easy to find.

Keep giving the dog medicine, and you'll see its bond gauge fill up. Eventually, you'll notice some guys hanging around the dog, picking on it. Don't worry, they'll eventually leave. Just do another round of leaving and returning, and you'll find them back there. This time, though, they're ready to fight! Beat them up, and you'll have helped the dog one last time. This will max out its bond, letting you name the dog and even bring it back to your 'Another Life' home. Pretty neat!
