How to Defeat Bassus

Struggling with Bassus in Halo Infinite? Learn the best tactics, including using the Sentinel Beam and blast coils, to defeat this tough Brute.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Bassus is a Brute with massive melee damage.
• He has incredibly tough armor and health.
• Many standard weapons are ineffective against his armor.

Phases:

1. Initial Encounter: Bassus attacks relentlessly with his energy-powered weapon, dealing significant melee damage. His tough armor and high health make him a challenge.
2. Mid-Fight Strategy: Create distance using running, sliding, or the Grappleshot. Equip the Sentinel Beam, found on the floor near the mining laser controls, as it deals massive damage to Bassus.
3. Exploiting the Environment: Use the blast coils scattered around the arena. You can pick them up and throw them at Bassus for significant damage, or kite him near them and shoot the coils to trigger explosions.
4. Finishing Blow: Combine the damage from blast coils and the Sentinel Beam, or finish him off with energy grenades.

Strategy:

• As soon as the fight begins, focus on creating space between yourself and Bassus. Use your movement abilities like running, sliding, or your Grappleshot to disengage.
• Don't waste ammo on weapons that struggle to penetrate his armor. Identify and prioritize the Sentinel Beam, which is highly effective against him.
• Look for opportunities to use the environment to your advantage. Blast coils are key – either throw them directly at Bassus or lure him near them and detonate them with gunfire.
• A combination of Sentinel Beam fire and blast coil explosions will significantly deplete Bassus's health, allowing you to finish him off efficiently.
• Upon defeating Bassus, you will unlock the 'Unearthed' achievement.
