Learn about Squall's Limit Break, Renzokuken, and its powerful finishers like Lion Heart in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. Discover how to obtain his ultimate weapon, the Lionheart gunblade.

Squall's Limit Break is Renzokuken, a series of attacks that can include a finisher. The number of hits (typically 4-8) can be influenced by Squall's current HP, KO'd allies, and negative status effects. The specific finisher used is also random, but certain conditions unlock more powerful options.

Rough Divide: Squall's basic finisher, dealing damage to a single target.

Fated Circle: Deals damage to all enemies. Requires the Shear Trigger gunblade or better.

Blasting Zone: Deals damage to all enemies. Requires the Flame Saber gunblade or better.

Lion Heart: Performs an additional seventeen high-powered attacks, often hitting the 9,999 damage cap. Requires the Lion Heart gunblade. Renzokuken combined with Lion Heart can deal immense damage over twenty-five hits.

Gunblade Weapons

The gunblade is a powerful weapon class that allows users to score critical hits by timing regular attacks with the trigger (default [R1]). All gunblades have a base accuracy of 255%.

How to Obtain Lion Heart

Squall's Lionheart weapon can be acquired relatively early, though the process is involved:

  1. Win twenty Elnoyle Cards from players in the Balamb region and refine them into two Energy Crystals (10x Elnoyle Cards = 1x Energy Crystal).
  2. During the SeeD Field Exam, KO both Squall and Zell to prevent them from leveling up and junction Ifrit to Seifer. Kill Galbadians to level Seifer, and thus Ifrit, up. At level ten, Ifrit can learn the Ammo-RF ability.
  3. Refine the two Energy Crystals into 20x Pulse Ammo.
  4. After the second Laguna dream (en route to Galbadia Garden), farm Grendels in the forest where the dream triggered. They drop Dragon Fangs (use Card Mod to avoid XP gain).
  5. Defeat Minotaur and Sacred in the Tomb of the Unknown King and refine the Minotaur Card into 10x Adamantine.
  6. Visit a Junk Shop and craft Lion Heart.
