Centra Ruins

Defeat Odin in final fantasy viii's Centra Ruins. Learn his HP, drops like Triple, and how he functions as a pseudo-GF.

Odin is a unique boss encounter in final fantasy viii located within the Centra Ruins. Unlike most enemies, Odin does not attack you directly. Your primary challenge is the battle timer; if it expires, Odin will use his Zantetsuken attack, resulting in a game over and loss of progress. However, the PC version may have a bug where the fight doesn't end when the counter runs out, making it impossible to lose.

• Resistances: Gravity (immune)
• Status Resistances: Immune to most status effects; The End 0%

Odin's HP is relatively low, even at higher levels, making him less challenging than some other bosses you may have encountered. He is immune to gravity-based attacks. If your party is low on HP, you can spam limit breaks to defeat him quickly, as he will not retaliate.

Upon defeating Odin, you will receive 20 AP, the Odin Card, and access to his services as a GF. Odin functions as a pseudo-GF; he cannot be junctioned or summoned at will. Instead, he may randomly appear at the start of battles to attack your enemies. This can be inconvenient if you are trying to keep your level low, mug specific items, or draw spells, as he will automatically defeat foes. The Odin Card refines into 100 Dead Spirit items, which can be further refined into Death Stones or Death spells. It is generally not recommended to refine the Odin Card.
