Master the enemies of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness! Learn strategies for the Cave of Ordeal's second floor, including Succubi, Cait Siths, and Nekomata.

Alright, if you've managed to get through the final boss or Prinny Land 3, the second floor of the Cave of Ordeal shouldn't give you too much trouble. It's pretty similar to Prinny Land 3, but the regular enemies hit harder, and the main boss is actually a bit weaker. Just be careful – if you leave too many enemies alive, they can use their Cat Blast attack and really hurt you!

Strategy: Start by hitting all the enemies with area-of-effect attacks. It's a bit awkward with the Cait Siths positioned on either side of you, but there's no way around it. If you're not drastically underleveled, you should be able to clear out most of the enemies, leaving just the Lv. 100 Succubus. You can then take her down easily with just Laharl.

Enemies on this floor:

  • Lv. 100 Succubus x1
  • Lv. 85 Cait Sith x4
  • Lv. 75 Nekomata x6

Next Steps: Once you clear this, Cave of Ordeal 3 will unlock. Be warned, though – it's significantly tougher than anything you've faced so far. I'd really only recommend tackling it once you're well into the hundreds in your levels. Until then, mess around with the Dark Congress to unlock the Human World, and then head to the Field of Virtue in Celestia for some solid leveling. The Item World can also be a good spot for leveling, depending on the item you're in. Eventually, you'll need to grab some better gear, and around that time, you'll probably be ready to try Cave of Ordeal 3. It'll become your go-to leveling spot from the moment you can beat it all the way up to Level 2000 and beyond. Seriously!
