Learn how to conquer the Item World in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness! Master enemy encounters, Geo Effects, and the Item General to boost your gear.

Alright, so you've stumbled into the Item World, huh? Think of it like a mini-dungeon crawl for your gear. If you've popped into something cheap like a Short Sword, you're looking at about ten battles. Most of the time, these are a breeze, but watch out for those annoying Geo Effects – they can really mess things up!

To clear a battle, you've got two main options: either wipe out every single enemy on the map, which can be a pain with some of the weird layouts, or you can make a break for the exit panel. Just hit R2 from the base panel to see where it's at. Sometimes it's right next to you, other times it's way across the map and crawling with enemies who have every nasty Geo Effect imaginable stacked against them. It really just depends on the situation.

The early battles are super easy, usually starting around level 1 and creeping up to about level 5 or 6. Nothing too crazy. The best trick for getting to those tricky exit panels, especially when they're in a bad spot, is to make a tower of your characters and throw them over there. Seriously, it's a lifesaver.

Things get a bit more interesting around Level 10. That's when you'll run into the Item General. If you manage to beat him, the stat boosts you get on your item after the battle are a little bit better, so it's totally worth pushing through. Plus, if you win the tenth battle, you snag a second Mr. Gency's Exit, and those things sell for some serious cash. Once you're done with your Item World run, you can head right back to Overlord's Castle.

Chances are, the weapon you've been working on turned out pretty sweet. If you want to give it another boost, just equip it and chat with the Dimension Guide. That'll open up Dinero Palace – yeah, the name says it all – where you can rack up some serious cash. You can also hit up the hospital to manage your equipment. After all that, Chapter 3 will really kick off.
