Learn the best strategy to defeat the Sky Dragon in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition. Master its attacks and claim the White Relic!

Alright, so you've taken down the other five dragons and now it's time for the big one: the Sky Dragon on Sky Dragon Isle. Head over to Another World – it's the island with that cool crescent moon shoreline. Once you land, just follow that long staircase heading west, and you'll find the Sky Dragon chilling at the peak, ready for a challenge.

This guy is the final dragon, so he's definitely the toughest. The main thing that makes him tricky is a specific combo of attacks, but don't sweat it, we can totally handle it.

Pro-Tip: Make sure Fargo is in your party! You'll want him for a very special reason later.

Sky Dragon Strategy

First off, watch out for its White Breath. It's a White element attack that doesn't hit too hard, but it can inflict 'Fatigued,' which makes your stamina drain faster. Sometimes, it'll try to heal itself with Holy Healing. The real signal to get ready is when you see Null State. This buffs its magic defense, so pay attention.

Here's the crucial part: right after the dragon uses Null State, it'll usually do a regular attack, and then it casts Magnify. Magnify boosts the power of all Elements by 50% for everyone – including the dragon! If you let that happen, its next attack, Holy Breath, can absolutely wreck your party.

But there's a sweet loophole: Magnify and Diminish can't stack. If you cast Diminish before the dragon casts Magnify, Magnify will literally do nothing. So, as soon as you see Null State, get ready to cast Diminish. If you can get it off before Magnify hits, you'll massively reduce the damage from Holy Breath.

Since Diminish weakens all Elemental damage for everyone, it's best to stick to physical attacks while its effect is active. If you managed to snag the Mastermune, you'll absolutely shred the dragon with it. If not, no worries – as long as your party can take a hit from Holy Breath, you'll be fine.

The Sky Dragon also has a few other tricks. It can use Mag Negate to block Elements, but since we're focusing on physical attacks after casting Diminish, this isn't a big deal. It might also double-cast Weak-Minded on one character, lowering their magic defense. And if you hit it with a bunch of Black Elements, it might unleash Ultra Nova. You can actually steal this attack from the dragon if you set up an Ultra Nova trap correctly.

After the Fight

Once you've finally beaten the Sky Dragon, you'll get the White Relic. With all six dragon relics in hand, it's time to focus on getting Serge's body back. Your next stop is the shaman in Guldove. You'll need to visit her in both Another World and Home World.
