Learn how to use Elements in chrono cross the radical dreamers edition, including the six types, innate element effects, and how to increase your Elemental Power Level.

Element Types & Relationships:

  • There are six types of Elements: Red (fire), Blue (water), Green (wind), Yellow (electric), Black (darkness), and White (light).
  • Red and Blue oppose each other.
  • Green and Yellow oppose each other.
  • Black and White oppose each other.

Obtaining & Accessing Elements:

  • Elements can be obtained by purchasing them from Element Shops, receiving them as drops from enemies, or finding them in chests.
  • Obtained Elements can be accessed via the “Elements” option in the main menu.
  • Consumable Elements can be used directly from the menu.
  • Elements must be “Allocated” to be used in battle, which is managed via the Element Grid.

Using Elements in Battle:

  1. Elements can be used via the “Element” command from the first menu or within the “Attack” menu during a fight.
  2. The Element option is initially greyed out and requires you to increase your character’s Elemental Power Level first.
  3. Increase your Elemental Power Level by using standard attacks. Each standard attack used increases the level by an amount equivalent to the standard attack’s level (e.g., 3 for strong attacks).
  4. Once your Elemental Power Level is increased, you can use any Element from the Element Grid up to that Level. For example, if your Elemental Power Level is 3, you can use any Element from Level 1, 2, or 3 positions.
  5. After using an Element, your Elemental Power Level will be reduced by the Element’s grid position value. For instance, using an Element in the Level 1 position will decrease your Level from 3 to 2.
  6. Using any Element consumes 7 Stamina and immediately ends your character’s turn.

Innate Element Effects:

  • Each character and foe typically has an Innate Element.
  • If you use an Element that matches your Innate Element, damage dealt to a foe increases by 12.5%.
  • If you are hit by an Element that matches your Innate Element, damage sustained decreases by 12.5%.
  • If you are hit by an Element that is opposite to your Innate Element, damage sustained increases by 50%.
  • These effects can stack. For example, if a Red Innate character uses a Red Element against a Blue Innate foe, the damage dealt will be +12.5% (matching Innate) plus +50% (opposing Innate foe) for a total of +62.5%.
  • It is beneficial for a character to wield Elements that match their Innate Element (e.g., give White Elements to Serge, who is White Innate).
  • Using opposing Elements against a character or foe results in a 50% increase in damage taken, making it advantageous to carry advantageous Elements against tough enemies.
