Walkthrough
- 1After nearly completing Earth Dragon Isle in Home World, return to its Another World version.
- 2The Criosphinx is in the deepest cavern of the Earth Dragon Isle in Another World. To reach it, activate the sand boil in the penultimate cavern of Earth Dragon Isle in Home World, right before facing the Earth Dragon.
- 3If you haven’t already, enter the quicksand at the far end of the initial area in Home World. This sends you underground. A creature (Rockroach) blocks the way south. Use an eastern hole to return to the surface, then speak to the nearby man. Exit to the world map and re-enter.
- 4Return to where the creature was; it will now be moved aside. Chat with the nearby guy to receive Explosives.
- 5In the next screen, use Explosives on the easternmost Rockroach. Fight and defeat the other two Rockroaches. Inspect the defeated Rockroaches to shove them into the holes, activating the sand boil.

- Method 1: Riddles
- Defend with all characters until the Criosphinx poses a riddle.
- Hit the Criosphinx with the correct Element based on the riddle's first line to avoid damage.
- Riddle Elements:
- “What the extorted one is bled…” → White
- “Auburn less the burn…” → Yellow
- “In my anger, I see…” → Red
- “It isn’t easy being…” → Green
- “Mare et caelum et viola!” → Blue
- “Like pontoon less the knave…” → Black
- Failing a riddle results in an Earthquake attack.
- Succeeding in all riddles means the Criosphinx leaves you alone, but you receive no reward except for stolen items.
- Method 2: Head-on Battle
- Equip the Yellow Plate on Lynx/Serge (with Mastermune) or Glenn (with dual Einlanzer) to absorb Yellow Elements (Earthquake, Thunda Storm).
- Equip accessories like Moonglasses (reduces damage by 25%) or Kung-fu Shoes (boosts evade by 12%), and Star Fragment (nullifies status ailments like Sprain).
- Equip the chosen character with at least 7 Eagle Eye Elements, plus Weaken and Bat Eye Elements to reduce the sphinx’s damage. Include healing Elements for emergencies.
- The other characters will likely spend most of the battle incapacitated or sleeping.
- When the Criosphinx is not using Elements, it performs 1-3 standard attacks. Defend after your own attacks to mitigate damage or use healing Elements.
- Use Eagle Eye to boost your Hit rate to 99% and consecutively spam fierce attacks.
- The fight can last around 15 minutes due to the Criosphinx's high HP.
- If you don’t have the Yellow Plate, it is advised to leave this fight until much later.
Tips
- Before engaging, use Fargo’s Pillage after building up his Elemental Power Level to steal items.
- The Sunglasses accessory boosts the user’s damage output and healing output by 25%.
- The Sunglasses do not stack with the Moonglasses.
