Find and defeat Quincey the Bandit King in v rising. Learn his attacks and the best strategy to beat him in the Bandit Stronghold.
- 1To find Quincey the Bandit King, travel to the Bandit Stronghold located at the top center of Farbane Woods. An efficient route is to teleport to the Vampire Waygate in southeast Dunley Farmlands and then travel south and west. Ensure you do not carry resources when using the Waygate, as this prevents its use.
- 2Upon reaching the Bandit Stronghold, you will find the entrance blocked. You need explosives to breach it.
- 3Craft the explosives using the recipe obtained from Clive the Firestarter. The recipe requires 6x Sulphur, 6x Plank, and 3 Whetstones and is crafted at the Alchemy Table.
- 4Equip the explosives to your hotbar and use them on the stronghold's entrance to destroy the gate.
- 5Once inside, Quincey the Bandit King can be found on the western side of the stronghold. Follow the path indicated on your map or minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen) to reach him.
How to defeat Quincey the Bandit King:
Quincey has several attacks to watch out for:
- Mace Combo: Quincey performs two quick horizontal swipes. Avoid this by not standing directly in front of him.
- Shockwave: Quincey charges his shield and releases an area-of-effect shockwave in front of him. The initial charge deals no damage, only the subsequent explosion. To dodge, stand between the purple lines indicating the attack's radius.
- Merciless Charge: Quincey charges at you three times consecutively. You can dodge these by using your travel ability to dash sideways or by running to the side. On the third charge, if you position yourself near an object like a wall or rock, Quincey will hit it and become stunned for 3-5 seconds, providing an opportunity to attack.
- Summon Trapper: Quincey can summon a few additional enemies to assist him in the fight.
Recommended Weapons:
- Merciless Iron Sword (for Whirlwind skill)
- Merciless Iron Reaper (for Howling Reaper skill, bonus damage to undead)
- Merciless Iron Crossbow
The regular iron versions of these weapons are acceptable if you do not yet have access to the Merciless versions. Note that Quincey the Bandit King is the same level as Nicholaus, and it is recommended to defeat Nicholaus first.
Recommended Abilities:
- Travel: Veil of Chaos (allows two dodges, leaves an exploding illusion, and buffs next melee attack by 25%)
- Basic 1: Crimson Aegis (provides a strong shield and knocks back attackers)
- Basic 2: Chaos Volley (deals splash damage) or Aftershock (hits more enemies)
- Ultimate: Merciless Charge (useful against groups) or Arctic Leap (if available from Nicholaus)
Strategy:
The primary challenge in this fight is managing the undead summoned by Quincey while avoiding his attacks. Close the distance and stay aggressive, but do not let the number of summoned undead overwhelm you. Use area-of-effect attacks like Whirlwind, Howling Reaper, Chaos Volley, Aftershock, and Merciless Charge to manage the adds. Quincey's Pestilence attack can be interrupted with the Crossbow's Snapshot ability, avoided with Crimson Aegis, or dodged by moving left and right.
