How to Find and Kill Nicholaus the Fallen

Learn how to locate and defeat Nicholaus the Fallen in V Rising. This guide covers his location in the Forgotten Cemetery, his attacks, and recommended weapons and abilities.

Walkthrough

   Locate Nicholaus in the Forgotten Cemetery, in the northern, highest part of the area. The easiest approach is to use the Vampire Waygate west of the cemetery and travel east.

   Be aware of the undead enemies in the cemetery, such as Armored Skeletons and Skeleton Mages. Prioritize defeating Skeleton Mages as they summon more undead.

   Engage Nicholaus. He is a necromancer who continuously summons skeletons, which can become overwhelming if not managed quickly.

   Dodge his attacks: Unholy Bolt (move sideways), Jumping Fear (dash out of the red circle), and Pestilence (move back and forth or use a shield ability if in melee).

   Interrupt his Summon Undead spell cast if possible, using the Crossbow's Snapshot attack.

   Use area-of-effect (AoE) attacks like the Sword's Whirlwind, Reaper's Howling Reaper, or abilities like Aftershock to deal with summoned undead.

   Close the distance and fight Nicholaus aggressively, but do not neglect the summoned undead.

Tips

• The correct spelling of the boss's name is Nicholaus.
• If you are using the Vampire Waygate, ensure you are not carrying any resources, as this will prevent its use.
• Skeleton Mages in the cemetery are a priority target due to their summoning capabilities.
• Nicholaus's Summon Undead attack can be interrupted. The Crossbow's Snapshot is effective for this.
• AoE attacks are highly recommended for managing the summoned undead.
• If you are in melee range during Nicholaus's Pestilence attack, consider using a shield ability.
• The Merciless Iron Sword and Merciless Iron Reaper are recommended for their AoE capabilities (Whirlwind and Howling Reaper, respectively). The Reaper also deals bonus damage to the undead.
• The Merciless Iron Crossbow is recommended for its Snapshot ability to interrupt casts.
• If you don't have the Merciless versions, regular iron versions will suffice.
• To craft these weapons, you must first defeat Quincey the Bandit King, who is the same level as Nicholaus.
• Recommended Abilities: Travel - Veil of Chaos; Basic 1 - Crimson Aegis; Basic 2 - Chaos Volley (or Aftershock); Ultimate - Merciless Charge (or Arctic Leap if available).
• Veil of Chaos offers double dodges, leaves an exploding illusion, and buffs your next melee attack.
• Crimson Aegis provides a strong shield and knocks back attackers, useful against overwhelming undead.
• Chaos Volley deals more damage with splash, while Aftershock hits more enemies.
• Merciless Charge is good for clearing undead hordes with its line-based damage. Arctic Leap is a preferred alternative if available.

Nicholaus the Fallen drops the V Blood and the ability to summon Undead. He also drops the Merciless Iron Crossbow recipe. He is the same level as Quincey the Bandit King, so defeating him first might make fighting Quincey easier.
