Complete The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall's 'A Missing Prince' and 'The Painting' quests. Investigate Arthago's death and retrieve a special painting from Castle Wayrest.
Walkthrough
- 1Reach Level 5 to receive a letter from Prince Lhotun of Sentinel.
- 2Find Prince Lhotun in the grand entry chamber of Castle Sentinel. He will task you to investigate the death of his older brother, Arthago.
- 3Ask around for clues regarding Arthago's death.
- 4After a few days or weeks, you will receive a letter from an agent of the Underking, advising you to investigate a randomly selected dungeon for clues.
- 5Find a letter within the dungeon.
- 6Return the letter to Prince Lhotun. He will inform you of Lysandus's affair with Medora Direnni and suggest seeking her out in her tower on the Isle of Balfeira for information about Arthago's death. Note that Medora was banished by Mynisera and her tower is cursed by Nulfaga, filled with undead.
- 7After completing Lhotun's quest, you will receive a letter from Queen Akorithi requesting you visit her.
- 8Queen Akorithi will task you to break into Castle Wayrest and retrieve a special painting.
- 9Travel to Castle Wayrest. It is recommended to have a Teleportation spell and potentially a water walking/breathing spell.
- 10Enter Castle Wayrest and proceed to the Great Hall behind the throne room.
- 11Go through the North wall door. Guards may attack; you can defeat them.
- 12Turn left and follow the passage to a room with coffins.
- 13Enter the brick wall teleporter in the corner.
- 14Navigate through subsequent teleporter rooms (ignore the lever in the second room).
- 15The final teleporter leads to a torture chamber. Exit and turn right, then through another door and proceed South.
- 16Follow the passage to a door facing West, which opens into a water-filled canal.
- 17Go to the far West side of the canal and use the board to cross.
- 18Enter the small tunnel to the East, which requires ducking.
- 19Crawl through the tunnel and exit the water.
- 20Proceed through the door and squeeze through the window-like structure blocking your path. Warning: SAVE YOUR GAME before this step, as you may get stuck or fall into the void. Ducking and climbing is the best method.
- 21After passing through the window, follow the passage and take the third door on the West.
- 22Follow the passage, take the first left, and continue until you reach a large room containing the painting.
- 23Use the painting to examine it.
- 24Teleport away to report to Queen Akorithi.
- 25If you need to escape Castle Wayrest without teleporting: Retrace your steps to the torture chamber. Exit and go left into the other room. Find a secret door on the West wall leading to a narrow corridor with large stairs. At the fork, spin the wheel to the right. Continue until you reach a room, exit through the door on the left, and enter the room across the hall containing a teleporter. This teleporter leads to a room with a fountain. Exit and follow the passage to a door on your left, leading to a final teleporter room. Look for a secret door on the South wall, enter the tunnel, and proceed through the door. Turn left, follow the stairs up to a room, and exit through the South door to return to Castle Wayrest's Great Hall. Remember guards may still attack.
- 26Report to Queen Akorithi and give her the painting. You can lie about whether you looked at it.
Tips
- Having a Teleportation spell is highly recommended for navigating Castle Wayrest and escaping.
- Consider a water walking/breathing spell for the canal section.
- Save your game before attempting to squeeze through the window, as it can be difficult.
