Master the diverse humanoids of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. Learn enemy types, their strengths, weaknesses, and effective strategies for combat and survival.

Humans are some of the most dangerous foes you will meet in The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. They come in every available premade class, from burglars to knights to sorcerers and everything in between. Warrior types are the easiest, attacking slowly and easy to dodge. Rogue types are dangerous, attacking quickly, and some can paralyze you. Mage types have a variety of spells but go down quickly once exhausted. They make no noises and can surprise you. Humans scale to your level, growing more powerful as you do, and can pose a serious threat at all levels. They also carry the most treasure.

Orcs come in three warrior varieties: Orc, Orc Sergeant, and Orc Warlord, each slightly more powerful than the last. They pose no serious threat but carry loot on par with humans. The Orc Shaman is a serious foe, casting destructive, often ranged spells and turning invisible. Sneak up and kill them quickly, lure them into wasting spells from behind a corner, use a Spell Reflection spell, or Silence to counter them.

Atronachs are elemental golems. Varieties include Fire, Frost, Flesh, and Iron. Certain elements heal them: Fire and Frost Atronachs are healed by their respective elements, Flesh Atronachs by poison, and Iron Atronachs by shock. Avoid using spells of their preferred element. Their attacks deal elemental damage, so resistance to their element helps.

Nymphs harm only your fatigue. Reducing fatigue to zero causes you to pass out and be eaten. These agile creatures are difficult to hit and require silver or better weaponry to harm.

Spriggans are tree creatures that rely on wooden claws. They are difficult for low-level characters, hard to hit, and absorb damage. While supposedly needing to be killed three times, one kill usually suffices.

Giants move slowly but hit very hard. Kill them at range or use hit-and-run tactics.

Werewolves and Wereboars are lycanthropes that move and hit quickly. Each hit carries a chance of contracting their disease. Monitor your health and seek a temple if you have odd dreams. They require silver or better weaponry.

Gargoyles require mithril weaponry to hurt. Unlike daedra, the daedric language skill has no effect. They possess no other interesting or dangerous talents.

Remember that only Blunt weapons deal full damage to Undead creatures.
