Alright, so you're looking to climb the ranks in one of Daggerfall's many guilds, huh? It can seem a bit daunting at first, but it's pretty straightforward once you know the system. You'll start at rank 0, and the requirements you see listed are what you need to get that first promotion.

Here's the basic rundown for advancing:

• Reputation: You need to boost your Reputation by 10 points for each rank.
• Highest Skill: Your top skill needs to increase by 8 points.
• Second Highest Skill: Your second best skill needs a boost of 4 points.

Don't forget the time gate! You can't get promoted until at least one month has passed since your last advancement. But here's a cool trick: if your Reputation and skills are high enough to jump multiple ranks, the game will promote you all the way to the highest rank you qualify for. So, you might skip a few steps!

Nonmember Quests

What if you're not quite good enough to join a guild yet because your Reputation is too low? Don't sweat it! You can still take on 'nonmember quests'. Completing these will give you a small Reputation boost with that guild. It's not as much rep as you'd get for doing quests as a member, and usually, there's no other reward like gold. Keep at it, and once your Reputation hits zero or above, they'll finally let you in.

Now, if it's your skills that are holding you back, the only real way to improve is to get out there and practice. Go hunt some monsters, cast some spells, sneak around – whatever skills you need to level up. Once you feel you're skilled enough, head back to the guild and try again.
