Notes and Strategy (30)

Master the final boss fight against Super Mecha Sonic in Sonic & Knuckles. Learn his attack patterns, invincibility phases, and the best strategy to defeat him and complete the game.

Strategy:

1. Super Mecha Sonic attacks with three different moves: a downward spin, a charge, and three energy balls.
2. Stay beneath him to bait the spin attack. Jump left to dodge his charge. Jump to dodge the energy balls.
3. Super Mecha Sonic is invincible in his Super Form. Attack him only when he reverts to his regular form after firing energy balls.
4. You can land up to 4 hits before he returns to the Master Emerald to recharge. You cannot hit him while he's recharging or spinning.
5. After six hits, he stops returning to the Master Emerald. He will float across the screen shooting rings.
6. In this final phase, you can only hit him when he briefly turns back into regular Mecha Sonic. Hit him twice to win.

Game Completion:

Upon defeating Super Mecha Sonic, Sky Sanctuary Zone is destroyed, and you complete Sonic & Knuckles. You can return to the Floating Island if you don't get a Time Over.

Endings:

The ending varies based on Chaos Emerald collection:

• All 7 Chaos Emeralds: Knuckles appears with the Master Emerald on Sonic's biplane. Sonic and Knuckles return to the Floating Island, which rises. Sonic departs. A scene shows Knuckles facing the screen before the Sonic & Knuckles logo in space.
• 0-6 Chaos Emeralds: An exhausted Knuckles appears without the Master Emerald. The island descends into the sea as Sonic departs. A scene shows a short-circuiting Mecha Sonic who has somehow repaired himself. He jumps on the Master Emerald, but nothing happens.
