Guide to defeating Dynamaxed Pokemon in Stow-on-Side, Ballonlea, Circhester, and Hammerlocke stadiums in Pokemon Sword and Shield's post-game.
Walkthrough
- 1Head to Stow-on-Side Stadium. You will face a Dynamaxed Pokémon. In Pokemon Sword, this will be a Dynamaxed Conkeldurr. In Pokemon Shield, it will be a Dynamaxed Dusknoir. Use Pokémon with super-effective moves. Conkeldurr can use Ice and Electric moves, so Flying-types should be cautious. Dusknoir can use Ground, Ice, and Electric moves. After the battle, you will receive Bea’s Rare League Card (Sword) or Allister’s Rare League Card (Shield).
- 2Travel to Ballonlea Stadium. You will battle Bede, who is now the Gym Leader. His team consists of Mawile (Level 61, Steel/Fairy), Gardevoir (Level 61, Psychic/Fairy), Galarian Rapidash (Level 62, Psychic/Fairy), and Hatterene (Level 63, Psychic/Fairy). Mawile has Intimidate and can use Fake Tears. Gardevoir uses Future Sight. Galarian Rapidash uses Smart Strike. Hatterene does not Dynamax or Gigantamax indoors. Use Fire or Ground-types against Mawile, Ghost or Steel-types against Gardevoir, and Pokémon effective against Psychic/Fairy types for Rapidash and Hatterene. After the battle, you will receive Bede’s Rare League Card and Opal’s Rare League Card.
- 3Proceed to Circhester Stadium. You will face a Dynamaxed Pokémon. In Pokemon Sword, this will be a Dynamaxed Gigalith. In Pokemon Shield, it will be a Dynamaxed Froslass. Gigalith is a Rock-type that can use Ground moves; special attackers are advised. Froslass is an Ice/Ghost-type that can use Electric and Psychic moves. Use Fire, Rock, Steel, or Dark-types against Froslass. After the battle, you will receive Gordie’s Rare League Card (Sword) or Melony’s Rare League Card (Shield).
- 4Go to Hammerlocke Stadium. Sonia will be present, and the elevator to the Energy Plant is inaccessible. Continue towards Raihan. You will face a Dynamaxed Haxorus (Dragon-type). Haxorus has the Mold Breaker ability, allowing its moves to bypass abilities. It can use Dragon, Normal, Ground, and Steel moves. Be mindful of Levitate users being hit by Ground moves and Fairy-types by Steel moves. After the battle, you will receive Raihan’s Rare League Card.
- 5After helping all four stadiums, Sonia will call you to return to Hammerlocke Stadium. Speak to Sonia to get the elevator to the Energy Plant working again.
Tips
- You can tackle the first three stadiums (Stow-on-Side, Ballonlea, Circhester) in any order.
- For the Max Raid Battles, leading with a Pokémon that has a type advantage is recommended.
- Pay attention to the move sets and abilities of the opposing Pokémon to choose the best counters.
- Bede's team in Ballonlea consists of Psychic/Fairy types, making them weak to Poison and Steel moves.
- Haxorus's Mold Breaker ability negates certain defensive abilities, so plan your strategy accordingly.
