Hey there! So, you've probably seen some Pokémon with a cool yellow glow on the overworld in Pokémon Sword and Shield, right? Don't worry, they're not shiny Pokémon (those are *way* rarer!), but they're still super valuable. These are called "Brilliant Pokémon," and catching them is a great way to get ahead.

When you defeat and catch a Brilliant Pokémon, you'll get a bunch of Watts. You can use these Watts in the Wild Area for all sorts of things. Plus, these Pokémon come with a special bonus: they already know an Egg Move, which is usually something you'd have to breed for. And if that wasn't enough, they'll also have at least two stats with perfect IVs, meaning they have the best possible potential in those areas right from the start.

Want to find more of these glowing guys? There are two main ways to increase your chances:

First, you can permanently boost your odds for a specific Pokémon species by just battling them. The more of a certain Pokémon you defeat, the higher the chance you'll encounter a Brilliant version of it. You can actually check how much you've improved your odds on that Pokémon's Pokédex page. Here's how the rate multiplier goes up:

Second, you can temporarily increase your chances by using chain fishing. This means you need to keep hooking and defeating Pokémon one after another without interruption. The chain breaks if you miss a hook, catch the Pokémon, run away from a battle, or leave the area. The boost from chain fishing is pretty significant, especially the higher you get:
