Pathways into Darkness is a unique blend of first-person shooter and RPG with survival horror elements. Players must explore a pyramid, fight monsters, solve puzzles, and converse with the dead to prevent an ancient god from awakening.

Gameplay:

1. Combat: Players must be strategic as ammo is scarce, monsters respawn, and movement speed is limited. Early game weapons include a handgun and survival knife.
2. Conversations: Use a magic yellow crystal to speak with the dead by typing keywords to gain puzzle hints, story information, and monster strategies.
3. Items: Collect various items including weapons (some with multiple ammo types), crystals with special powers (except the unlimited yellow crystal), potions with temporary effects, and miscellaneous items for puzzles.
4. Treasure: Finding items grants points, with every two points awarding one health point.
