Pathways into Darkness does not feature traditional currency. Instead, players collect various items throughout the pyramid that serve different purposes. These items are crucial for progression, combat, and puzzle-solving.

• Weapons: Essential for fighting monsters. Some weapons utilize different ammo types like HE and Sabot.
• Crystals: Grant special powers with a charging mechanism. The yellow crystal for communication with the dead has unlimited uses, while others shatter after repeated use.
• Potions: Provide temporary effects such as invincibility or time manipulation.
• Miscellaneous Items: Used to solve puzzles (e.g., red cloak), access game features (e.g., map), store other items (e.g., canvas bag), or serve unique functions (e.g., tinderbox).
• Treasure: Various valuable objects found throughout the game. Picking up certain objects grants points, with every two points awarded increasing the player's health by one point.
