Pathways into Darkness features a variety of mystical items known as Runes. These objects are crucial for progression, offering unique abilities and puzzle-solving capabilities. Understanding their function and how to acquire them is key to surviving the pyramid.

Runes:

• Crystals: These are a primary type of Rune. Each crystal possesses a distinct special power. After equipping a crystal, it requires a charging period before use. With each subsequent use, the charging time increases. Eventually, the crystal will shatter and be removed from the player's inventory. The exception is the yellow crystal, which allows communication with the dead and can be used an unlimited number of times.
