The Heart of the City — Pathways into Darkness Walkthrough

The game begins with the player separated from their Special Forces team, presumed dead after a parachute malfunction.

Equipped only with a flashlight and survival knife, the player must enter the alien pyramid.

The pyramid contains 25 levels, filled with monsters created by the slowly awakening Dreaming God.

The player has five in-game days before the Dreaming God fully awakens and destroys Earth.

Navigate the levels, battling monsters and solving puzzles.

Utilize conversations with dead individuals (found via a magic yellow crystal) to gain puzzle clues, monster strategies, and story information. Keywords are essential for these conversations.

Combat is survival-horror oriented: monsters respawn, ammo is scarce, players move at similar speeds to monsters, and health is regained by resting (risky) or rare blue potions.

Blue potions are crucial for curing poison and restoring health.

Collect items to gain points, which translate to health. Items include weapons, crystals (with special powers that degrade over use, except the yellow crystal), potions, miscellaneous items for puzzles, and treasure for score and health.

The ultimate goal is to reach the bottom level and detonate a nuclear device to stun the Dreaming God and bury it.
