Pathways Into Darkness is a unique video game that blends first-person shooter action with RPG elements and survival horror conventions. Players must navigate a treacherous pyramid, battle monsters, solve intricate puzzles, and uncover secrets through conversations with the dead.

Gameplay Mechanics:

• Combat: Players cannot simply 'run and gun.' Monsters respawn, ammo is scarce, and players move at a similar pace to enemies. Health is regained through risky resting or rare blue potions. Initial weapons include a handgun and survival knife.
• Conversations: Interact with the dead via a magic yellow crystal to gain puzzle hints, monster strategies, and story details. Keywords are typed into a dialogue box for responses.
• Items: Discover various items including weapons, crystals with unique powers (that degrade with use, except the yellow crystal), potions with temporary effects, and miscellaneous items crucial for puzzle-solving and progression. Picking up certain objects grants points that can restore health.
