Alright, so you're wondering about rivers in RuneScape Classic? The main thing to know is that most of what looks like water outside the explorable map is actually the 'Unknown'. It's basically the game filling in the blanks where there's no map data yet, and in Classic, it usually shows up as water if you're on the ground floor, or darkness if you're higher up. Some players even call it the 'sea' or 'ocean' because of this! There's one particularly interesting spot: a hidden waterfall southeast of the Digsite. You can get there by heading north along the coast east of Al Kharid mine. Keep going until you reach the fence that separates that area from the Digsite. There's a little gap between the fence and the sea, letting you slip south of the Digsite. Follow the far east edge, and you'll see where the Digsite river flows back into the Unknown. This river actually seems to start near the Digsite's east coast, flowing towards the panning area you might remember from the Digsite quest. It then heads west to form a small lake, and finally south to create this hidden waterfall. It's pretty neat because it makes a sort of island between the Digsite and the edge of the world. Just a heads-up, the ground is a bit higher around there, so the actual source of the water is probably a hidden spring right by the waterfall itself.
