Learn how to wield the Dragon Axe in Old School RuneScape! This guide details obtaining the Firebird's Feather, Master Thieves Armband, and Cooked Lava Eel.

To wield the Dragon Axe, you must first join the Warriors' Guild. Speak to Achetties about joining the guild. Achetties will tell you to get three items: the Firebird's Feather, Cooked Lava Eel, and the Master Thieves Armband. These can be obtained in any order.

Firebird's Feather

First, you need to obtain Ice Gloves. Prepare for a level 103 monster encounter, bringing prayer, magic, food, and a pickaxe. Travel to White Wolf Mountain (west of Taverly, east of Catherby). In the northwestern part, use your pickaxe on a rockslide to proceed. Head north, then east, past level 57 Ice Warriors, until you reach ladders. Navigate the maze by always taking the north ladder. Descend, fight two level 57 Ice Warriors, then ascend. Pass level 68 Ice Giants and descend another north ladder. In the passage, fight two level 64 Ice Spiders, then ascend. Take the final ladder down to face the aggressive level 103 Ice Queen. After defeating her and obtaining the Ice Gloves, ascend the ladder to escape the maze. Bank all armor and weapons, keeping only the Ice Gloves.

Travel to Port Sarim and take a boat to Entrana by talking to a Monk of Entrana. The Firebird is located on the northeastern part of the island, north of the bridge. It is level 6. Kill it while wearing your Ice Gloves to pick up the Firebird's Feather. Without the Ice Gloves, you cannot pick up the feather.

The Master Thieves Armband

This task requires the assistance of a friend in the opposing gang. If you are in the Phoenix gang, you need a Black Arm gang friend, and vice versa.

For Black Arm Gang Member:

Go to Varrock and speak to Katrine about the Master Thieves Armband. She will instruct you to steal Scar Face Pete's Candlesticks from his mansion in Brimhaven, Karamja. First, obtain the I.D. paper from the gang office on Palm Street in Brimhaven. Before entering Scar Face Pete's Mansion, wear a Black Large helmet, Black Plate Mail (male), and Black Plate Legs, which can be purchased at the Champion's Guild and Varrock Armor Shop respectively.

Upon arrival at the mansion, show your ID papers to Garv to gain entry. Speak to Grip inside and ask for tasks; he will give you a 'miscellaneous key'. Give this key to your Phoenix gang friend. Your friend will then range Grip (level 46) in the room with the cupboard, causing Grip to drop keys. Take these keys, go to the treasure room, and retrieve the Candlesticks. Give one Candlestick to your Phoenix friend. Return to Varrock and speak to Katrine to receive the Master Thieves Armband.

For Phoenix Gang Member:

Go to Varrock and speak to Straven about the Master Thieves Armband. He will tell you to steal Scar Face Pete's Candlesticks. Their associate, Charlie the Cook, and Alfonse the Waiter, are at the Shrimp and Parrot pub in Brimhaven. Straven will also provide the password: 'Gherkin'.

Ensure you have the miscellaneous key from your Black Arm Gang friend. Bring a bow and arrows. At the Shrimp and Parrot pub, talk to Alfonse the Waiter and Charlie the Cook, providing the password. Charlie the Cook will reveal a secret panel. Go through it to face aggressive level 46 Guard Dogs. Pass them and enter the mansion. Use the miscellaneous key on the door. You will see holes in the wall leading to a room with a cupboard. Arm your bow, shoot through the holes at Grip, and kill him. He will drop keys for your Black Arm gang friend.

Your Black Arm gang friend will obtain the Candlesticks and trade one to you. Return to Varrock and speak to Straven to receive the Master Thieves Armband.

Cooked Lava Eel

Go to Port Sarim and speak to Gerrant in the Fishing Shop. He will explain how to make an Oily Rod and provide a bottle of Blamish Snail Slime. You will need a vial of water and a Harralander herb. Combine the Harralander herb with the vial, then add the Blamish Snail Slime to create an unfinished potion. Use the oil with a regular fishing rod (not a fly fishing rod) to create an Oily Rod. You must bring 1 bait per Lava Eel you intend to catch.

To find Lava Eels, travel to the Members dungeon south of Taverly. You will need your Oily Rod, an anti-dragon breath shield, a cure poison potion, good armor and weapon, plenty of food, and bait. Proceed deeper into the dungeon until you reach level 26 Poison Scorpions. Head south through a walkway, past level 46 Black Knights, until you reach a room with a blue carpet. Go west into the room with the prisoner and obtain a dusty key. Head north back to the Poison Scorpions and cross the bridge.
