    As soon as the chapter loads, move backward until your view starts to fade in, then run forward to the base of the large spiky rock directly in front of you.

    Look for three glowing yellow-orange crystals high up on the walls of the chamber.

    Carefully shoot all three crystals without Nihilanth seeing you. The crossbow is recommended, taking four darts per crystal.

    Once the crystals are destroyed, Nihilanth can no longer draw power to heal himself.

    Carefully edge over to where you can shoot one side of his huge head without him seeing you.

    Empty the gluon gun, .357 Magnum, and crossbow into his head.

    Continue shooting his head until the top opens up and he moans or growls. Keep shooting during this phase.

    After he stops moaning or growling, get out the RPG and quicksave.

    Attempt to hit Nihilanth's exposed brain spike from your hiding place with an RPG rocket.

    Keep firing rockets, aiming for the approximate center of the top of his head, until he starts spinning and spewing colorful energy, or until you run out of rockets.

    If you run out of rockets or he doesn't start spinning, quickrestore and try again.

    If a glitch teleports you to the "Endgame" chapter prematurely, quickrestore and try again.

    If rockets consistently fail, use the whoosh-thing on the ground to the right of your rock to fly over Nihilanth's head.

    Look down and shoot his glowing brain spike with the assault rifle or another gun, or land on his head and beat his brain spike with the crowbar. This method will get you teleported to the "Endgame" chapter.

G-Man Finale:

In this chapter, the G-Man steals your weapons and teleports you. Wait until you are in the tram car and he says it's time to choose. You can either go through the tram car's door into the big portal, or wait until you are put in an area with alien grunts. Either choice ends the game.

Tips
  • If Nihilanth fires a teleporter orb before you hide, shoot down any appearing vorts or controllers.
  • If the rocket strategy fails or you encounter the glitch where the game doesn't teleport you to the "Endgame" chapter, use the whoosh-thing method.
  • The crowbar strategy will not work to defeat Nihilanth; you must use the whoosh-thing to fly up and shoot his brain spike.
